JENNIFER E CORBY
aka JERSEY
Jennifer was born on December 6, 1981 in Hackettstown, NJ. She started taking riding lessons a the age of 8 at Snowbird Acres Farm in Schooley's Mountain, NJ. She began riding english on numerous school horses and moved up through the levels quickly. At age 9, she began jumping and competing in equitation. With numerous trophies and awards, she also started competing in hunters then small jumpers until the age of 12. Like most 12 year old riders, she began to beg Daddy for a horse of her own, and with some help from Mom (of course), convincing Dad had worked out well. Take A Chance, a beautiful flashy 16hh TB off the track, became her first horse. Jen and Chance began lessons right away and needed them because Chance was so hot, she couldn't even take him out of the arena without out him taking off at a gallop!
Through lots of hard work and moving barns to Silver Fox Farm for Jen to train ponies, Jen and Chance began to show in equitation and hunters doing well, but something was missing. They ended up moving to Talisman Farm in Broadway, NJ and started taking lessons for eventing and dressage with some of New Jersey's top trainers. Not before long they were eventing with some of the Northeast's best at the Beginner Novice, then Novice, and then Training Level. Jen and Chance received numerous awards and ribbons through the USCTA (now the USEA). She worked at Talisman Farm, exercise riding and training some horses. And after all the hard work, it was time to go to college. Jen moved to South Carolina and sold Chance.
After college and missing the horse business, Jen decided that she wanted to become a professional horse trainer. She moved to Victor, MT in August of 2004 and purchased a few horses. She began riding and showing in the local shows on Taliesin, her 17hh Paint/TB cross, and wanted to do more. So in 2006 she was accepted into Heart Centerd Horsemanship's apprenticeship program(John Lyon's Certified). She purchased Smoke, a very green AQHA 4 year old, to take with her. Jen and Smoke did very well and loved all the new methods that she learned. After graduation, Jen was given the go-ahead to start training horses on her own. So she did just that and purchased new horses to train and took on a few clients. In 2007, Jen decided to make sure her skills were mastered and went back to horse training school with a completely unbroke untouched 3 year old APHA mare called "Missy". Jen and Missy graduated at the top of their class with 100% on all written tests again! So the completion of that, made her double-certifed!
Jen aka Jersey is now running a very promising business in western Montana. She currently has lots of happy clients that come back to her again and again. Jen had a great year in 2009, selling 7 horses! 5 of the horses were ones that Jen purchased, trained, showed and then sold. The other 2 horses were clients; that Jen trained and sold. She has big big plans for the 2010 season with plans to return to eventing and hopefully becoming one of Montana's top competitors and going up from there. She still plans on buying, training, and selling horses and working on her client's horses as well. English and Western, of course!!!! SHOWS are the plan for 2010 and you should be seeing alot of Jersey everywhere!!!! (See SCHEDULE PAGE)
